HOW DID YOU BECOME A MASSAGE THERAPIST? WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?

As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a massage therapist and work with alternative medicine. After completing my secondary education, my parents wanted me to pursue a university degree, which was not what I wanted. I did one semester to prove to them that I was capable, but that I would not go any further. I then began four years of training as a medical massage therapist. Once I had finished, seeing that alternative techniques were often undervalued or unfamiliar to the medical profession, I decided to broaden my knowledge by obtaining the diploma and Federal VET Certificate (CFC) as a medical assistant, in order to promote these techniques and traditional natural medicine. To my great delight, this worked, and it also enabled me to strengthen my knowledge of academic medicine. I opened my practice in April 2002 and have never stopped deepening my knowledge there thanks to my patients, continuing education, the clients at Bains des Pâquis, as well as my own life experience. I am happy to be able to help others, and every day I am reassured that I chose the right path!

HOW WERE YOU BROUGHT TO WORK WITHIN THE MAINS DES BAINS ASSOCIATION AND SINCE WHEN?

At one of my graduation ceremonies in alternative techniques, I ran into a colleague who works at the Bains and with whom I had studied. She asked me whether I was still specialised in Vodder lymphatic drainage, as the Mains des Bains association was looking for replacement practitioners who performed lymphatic drainage that year. Motivated by the idea of working as part of a team at the Bains, I applied, and after the various interviews, I was selected. I joined the Mains des Bains association in March 2007.

WHY DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITHIN THIS ASSOCIATION?

For the exchanges with colleagues and all the Bains staff. I also like the idea of promoting well-being and making prevention accessible to as many people as possible. The clientele is so diverse socially, ethnically and in terms of age that you can only come away enriched and never be bored.

WHICH MASSAGE TECHNIQUES DO YOU PRACTICE AT BAINS DES PÂQUIS?

Vodder lymphatic drainage, classic massage, sports massage, foot reflexology, and baby massage classes.

WHICH TECHNIQUES DO YOU PRACTICE IN YOUR PRIVATE PRACTICE? WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

My practice is located in Saint-Jean, Geneva. In addition to the practices above, I provide therapeutic Vodder lymphatic drainage, modern vertebrotherapy, structural/energetic/CSF craniosacral therapy, visceral therapy, harmonic techniques, auriculotherapy, as well as Gua Sha and hot cupping. In naturopathy: endonasal therapy, aromatherapy, iridology, orthomolecular medicine (prescriptions and intravenous infusions of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, trace elements and injectable homeopathy), Baunscheidt, autohaemotherapy and percutaneous hydrotomy (osteoarthritis, herniated disc, etc.).
