Marc-Étienne Besson
HOW DID YOU BECOME A MASSAGE THERAPIST? WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
I was a musician and music teacher for around twenty years. Then I discovered massage and completed an initial training course that made me want to continue.
HOW WERE YOU BROUGHT TO WORK WITHIN THE MAINS DES BAINS ASSOCIATION AND SINCE WHEN?
I met Gabrielle, the person who founded the Mains des Bains association. She often advised me at the beginning of my work as a massage therapist and suggested that I join the group. I have been practising there since September 2005.
WHY DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITHIN THIS ASSOCIATION?
I love the place and its spirit—its popular, colourful side, poetic and offbeat—as well as all the people who bring it to life and help it shine. And of course, the pleasure of working as part of a team.
WHICH MASSAGE TECHNIQUES DO YOU PRACTICE AT BAINS DES PÂQUIS?
Classic, relaxation and sports massage, as well as Vodder-method lymphatic drainage.
WHICH TECHNIQUES DO YOU PRACTICE IN YOUR PRIVATE PRACTICE? WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
My main practice is located in central Lausanne; on Wednesdays I work in Orbe. In addition to the techniques mentioned above, I also practise Hawaiian massage (lomi lomi) and Thai foot massage there.
IN YOUR OPINION, IN FOUR WORDS, WHICH QUALITIES ARE ESSENTIAL TO BE A MASSAGE THERAPIST AT BAINS DES PÂQUIS?
Expertise, sociability, flexibility and humanity.
WHAT ARE YOUR PROJECTS?
I would like to save the world and finish repainting the locomotive.
